Being my own CEO for more than 20 years
On 04/04/2004, I leaped into the world of entrepreneurship, starting with a simple request to work four days a week instead of five in my then-corporate job. I was ready to start my own company!
Fueled by seeing my parents running their own business when I was young, my brother being an entrepreneur, and my husband leaping a couple of years before me. Inspired by all of them, I knew it was the right time to say YES to myself.
I founded Alia Vita ā Party and Wedding Planning and was proud when I filled in āself-employedā on forms that asked for your profession š
From there, I ventured into various business endeavors ā from being a party and wedding architect to diving into e-commerce, hospitality, and even drone training. Each venture brought its own set of challenges and triumphs.
Rest assured that there have been lots of times when I questioned my choices, wondering why I was making my life so difficult. Staying in corporate would have been so much easier, working 9-5, and being sure that there would be money in the bank account at the beginning of each month.
But it wouldnāt have nurtured my soul at allā¦Ā Ā
So even though there were (and still are) moments I felt like throwing in the towel, I kept listening to my heart and answering questions such as:
- What is my WHY?
- What is my greater purpose?
- My vision?
- Where do I see myself when I grow old (I wonder if I will ever grow up š)
- Does what I do align with my values ā Freedom | Adventure | Wealth?
- Does what I do make me smile and enthusiastic?
Those moments gave and give me clarity, and resilience and brought me back to the essence of why I am so passionate about being an entrepreneur.
Amidst these challenges, there has been an immense time and space for growth and fulfillment. Today, as I reflect on these 20 years, I realize that every twist and turn in my journey has shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today.
The one venture that has inspired me the most and has stood the test of time is myĀ coaching business, aĀ Backyard Hiker, and being aĀ Visionary Planning Coach, ā a passion that fuels my soul and allows me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of other women entrepreneurs!
Armed with a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for mentorship, I empower women to break free from the shackles of self-doubt and uncertainty.
There were too many times in the past 20 years that I felt alone on this entrepreneurial journey. Whenever I would go to networking events back in the day, 90% of the attendees were men. I can tell you that they never shared my way of looking at things. More than once I was asked where the owner of the business wasā¦ š
Now, firmly grounded, I know what I want, and where I want to go.
